Using Business Seminars to Raise Funds

and Reach People for Your Church, School, or Business

 

How we will help you utilize our model to raise a large sum of ready capital while meeting hundreds of new people and potential prospects in your church, school, community, or business in a ½ day business seminar.

 

Benefits

1.     Your organization promotes and holds one of our business seminars at your location and then receives a large percentage of the ticket sales that you can immediately use for debt retirement, capital needs, building funds, community projects, etc.

2.     This business seminar is led by a businessman who has been in the teaching business for over 25 years, and has more than 10 years of experience successfully leading high energy seminars for very large groups.

3.     You will have the opportunity to have a large number of business people and/or citizens and others in your organization who have never been inside your building before, and you’ll get to meet and interact with them, potentially connecting with many of them who will be interested in ministries or programs your organization has to offer.  We will specifically ask about their interest in these programs, and you will have access to all their contact information, and will be coached in very effective follow-up procedures.

4.     The vast majority of the funds for this fund-raiser actually come from outside sources!  Imagine that!

5.     This project is repeatable.  We have multiple topics which we can schedule at other times throughout the year, plus, we can even come back and do the same topic in future years… you’ll just have your people sell tickets to different people next time!  In addition, the guests you invite this time will HELP you sell tickets to a future event!  (Our most common comment is “I wish EVERYONE from our office had been here!”)

6.     Your people, in addition to your guests, will be treated to a TOP-NOTCH business seminar!  They’ll learn how to get along with others better, how to manage their time better, how to deliver better service, based on which topic you choose. 

 

 

 

 

 

How Does It Work?

1.     Basics – We decide, with you, on a basic business topic you’d like to host.  Along with a steering committee, we’ll schedule a date, conduct the planning and training, and promote it throughout your organization.  Your organization’s members agree to buy one ticket (at a reduced price) and sell 3-4 tickets to co-workers, family members, neighbors, friends and associates.  That’s the challenge we’ll give them.  This is for a ½ day business seminar.  The goal is to sell these to non organization members in their business settings.  Remember, this is an outreach event, as well as a fund-raiser! 

2.     We’ll do lot’s of promotion.  There will be one sub-committee of the steering committee, led by your organizational leader, whose main job is to find companies who will donate incentive prizes for the highest ticket sellers.  (For example: A dinner for two at a nice steak restaurant; a two night stay at a really nice local resort hotel; a $50 gift card to any local store; a brand new igloo cooler; a new set of water skis and ski vest; you get the picture…)  These prizes should be real draws, the bigger, the better.  And the truly big prizes will have a minimum number of tickets which must be sold in order to qualify for that prize level.  Names of people who have qualified for these prize levels will be posted each week leading up to the seminar, for additional enthusiasm and motivation. 

3.     We’ll have some brief video clips you can use in your organization, or on your website to promote the seminar.  We’ll also provide you with some suggested ad copy you can use.

4.     We’ll provide you with some camera ready copy you can use to print up tickets, flyers, and anything else you’d like to use for promotional materials.  You are welcome to produce additional materials as you see fit.  We’d like to have a copy of any additional materials you produce, as we’re always looking for ways to improve!

5.     We will split the ticket sales with you on a sliding scale based on numbers of ticket sales.  This is also set up to encourage the sales of more tickets.  The more tickets your organization sells, the greater percentage of sales you get to keep, anywhere from 60% to 85% of sales!  So it is to your great benefit to encourage every person to buy one and SELL, SELL, SELL! 

6.     Remember also, that every person that comes into those doors will be treated to an exceptional business seminar, but will also get to interact with your people in a VERY positive atmosphere.  They will be asked if they’re interested in any of the ministries or services your organization offers, and we’ll have detailed contact information on them!  When is the last time you had several hundred people, invited by your members, with complete contact information, in your building? (Note – if your building won’t hold the large number of people we’re talking about, that’s ok.  You can host the seminar off-site, and still build the great relationships with the participants!)   This is a GREAT opportunity!  The more you get your people inviting their co-workers, neighbors, friends, and even family members, the greater the chance you’ll get to KEEP some of these folks!  Especially if you utilize the “follow-up” procedures we’ll leave with you.

7.     We’ll specifically train the steering committee on follow-up procedures for every person who attends, and give you some materials to send out.

 

FAQ’s

1.     Q. – Are there any up-front costs involved?

A.   – Only your printing, and any advertising or promotional costs you decide on, which will be determined by your steering committee.  You may decide to do all “in house” advertising.  Or you may determine it will be to your advantage to take out a small ad in your local newspaper. (*Highly Recommended)  In addition, you will probably want to provide a small break in the midst of the seminar consisting of coffee/water and perhaps cookies or some very light snack.  These decisions will be made by your steering committee, and will be influenced by your budget and the potential your committee sees for income through the campaign.  Additionally, if your building situation determines that you must host the seminar off-site, these costs must be considered, but will tend to be greatly off-set by the ticket sales.)

 

2.      Q. – How much money could we potentially make in a campaign like this?

A.   That is entirely determined by how many tickets you sell, and may also be limited by how many you can seat in your largest facility.  But, as an example, if you sold 1000 tickets in this way:

§        200 @ $35 =   7,000.00  (That’s just 200 members buying one reduced price ticket)

§        800 @ $75 = 60,000.00  (And selling an average of only 4 tickets each!)  As you know, some will sell less, but with the incentive program in place, some will sell MANY more!

=  $67,000.00  x  70% = $46,900.00, which you could immediately put to building debt or capital needs after a ½ day seminar!   And, with our multiple topics, there’s nothing to prevent you from doing this two or three times a year!  So, with just twice a year, you could conceivably put $80,000 a year on your favorite budget item with just two ½ day seminars, all the while meeting literally HUNDREDS of new people!

 

Now, look at these numbers with the sliding scale in place that encourages greater ticket sales!

·         200 members @ $35 = 7000

·         1800 tickets sold @ $75 = 135,000 (That’s what happens when your people get REALLY excited and motivated!)

·         At THIS rate, you get to keep MUCH more than just 60% of the ticket sales!  Here, you get to keep 80%!

·         80% of $142,000 = $113,600!  For one ½ day seminar!  And it’s repeatable!  In fact the participants will WANT to HELP you do it again!  The most common comment we get is “I wish EVERYONE from our office had been here to hear this!”

 

Sliding Scale:

·         Less than 500 tickets – 60% (to encourage volunteers to get out there and SELL!)

·         501 tickets Up to 1000 tickets – 70%

·         1001 tickets Up to 1500 tickets – 75%

·         1501 Up to 2000 tickets  – 80%

·         More than 2000 tickets – 85%

 

AND, if you REACH and ASSIMILATE just a SMALL percentage of those business people… well, you know what that does to your budget, now, don’t you?

 

3.     Q.  How do we get started?

A.   Go ahead and get your appropriate committees together, or whomever you need to present this to in order to get approval.    We can get you some samples of our seminars to show if you’d like.  After you have the go-ahead, we’ll need to have you form a steering committee of about 10 to 12 people so we can get things rolling, get a date on the calendar, and we’re OFF! 

B.    We’ll be glad to meet with your steering committee once we’ve signed an agreement, to provide training and get you off to a great start.  Our end is easy, and our goal is to make your end easy, too!  We’ll work with you every step of the way.  Try to plan the seminar about 8 weeks out to give you plenty of time for planning and ticket sales so you can make the maximum impact on your budget and outreach efforts.  Mainly, let’s clear the first hurdle of selling this to your leadership.  How can we help you?
